THE HISTORIC VESSEL HAVENGORE
Havengore was commissioned in 1954 by the Port of London Authority as a hydrographic survey vessel. Built by Tough Bros of Teddington, she is powered by twin Gardner 8L3 diesel engines. On trials she averaged 12.25 knots.
Havengore, now operated by Venues of Distinction Ltd, is currently providing corporate hospitality services on the Thames in central London and also regularly attends Cowes Week.
Gardner Marine Diesels have carried out repairs and servicing on her engines, including a complete in situ overhaul of the port engine and are currently contracted to provide on going maintenance services.
'Havengore' carried the coffin of Sir Winston Churchill on the River Thames from Tower Pier to Festival Pier during the state funeral of January 30, 1965.
